Once upon a time, on the Left Bank of Boston, the owner of a popular indie designers market brought together two girls with a mutual, lifelong love affair for vintage and thrift shopping in order to host a clothing swap, and The Swapaholics were born.
Since that fabulously fateful day, Amy Chase from Punky Style and Melissa Massello from Shoestring Magazine have co-hosted hundreds of modern swap events around the country, each drawing between 25 and 500 people, and have inspired thousands more around the world. They love being able to empower men and women everywhere by sharing the joys of sharing versus owning through their in-person events, blog, press appearances, and their upcoming e-book, “Confessions of a Swapaholic” (available Spring 2012).
After four years of swapping professionally, and more than a decade of hosting swaps for friends & family, The Swapaholics have become America’s favorite swap hostesses and internationally recognized sustainable style experts. Amy & Melissa are passionate about spreading the love for secondhand style and giving back to their community by highlighting local, independent businesses & working with charities like Goodwill.
Co-founders Melissa and Amy are leading the retail revolution of swapping before shopping, and have been featured on ABC Nightline News, in USA Today, FastCompany, US News & World Report, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, Daily Candy, Mass High Tech, WalletPop/AOL, Racked LA, and on NBC, CBS, FOX, and other fine media outlets.
