The Week in Swaps, vol. 1
Did we mention we’re completely addicted to swaps? Here are the best clothing swaps happening around the country over the next week or so — wish we could be at all of them!
TUESDAY, MARCH 29TH
DENVER, CO
Goodwill Denver Clothing Swap
6 to 7:30 pm
Swing Thai
1612 Wazee Street
Denver, Colorado 80202
Privately hosted by a group of Denver-based swap divas, and benefitting the Denver Goodwill, this is our first swap we’ve ever heard about held in a Thai restaurant. Admission is free, and apparently there will be prizes! For more info, follow @GoodwillDenver on Twitter.
THURSDAY, APRIL 1ST
AUSTIN, TX
Happy Hour & Clothing Swap
5:30 to 7:30 pm
The VORTEX Cafe
2307 Manor Road
Austin, Texas 78722
What do you get when you mix a free clothing swap in an outdoor beer garden with happy hour drink specials, including $4 wines from Cycle’s Gladiator, $2.50 Shiner Bock and $1.50 Lonestar beers? You get The Swapaholics daydreaming about last-minute airfare deals to Austin. If you actually live in the area (lucky ducks) check out VORTEXRep.org for more info — apparently, this is going to be a weekly thing!
SATURDAY, APRIL 3RD
SACRAMENTO, CA
2nd Annual Stitch Swap
1 to 4 pm
the urban hive
20th and H streets
Sacramento, California
Hosted by three super-adorable Sacramento-area bloggers — Ashlee Gadd from Where My Heart Resides, Ashley Jean Gray from Plumeria Avenue, and Liz Franco — switch swap is “the biggest clothing swap in Sacramento” and features live music and frozen yogurt freebies from sponsors Pinkberry and GoGirl, in addition to super-affordable $5 admission. Spring clean those California closets because, as we also say, “green is the new black” and swapping is the best way to recycle clothing while supporting a good cause. (Donations from Stitch Swap go to the St. John’s Shelter for Women and Children.)
ST. PETERSBURG, FL
St. Pete Clothing & Handbag Swap
11 am to 2 pm
66th St. Flea Market
5601 66th Street
St. Petersburg, FL 33709
Unlike our free-for-all swaps, this event is a “1 for 1″ dealie — for each item (clothing or accessories) you bring to the swap, you get a ticket to exchange for a new piece of clothing or accessory. Check out the Swap Your Clothes group on Meetup.com for more info about the event organizers and to see who’s going.
Know about a public clothing swap going on this week/weekend or beyond?
We wanna hear about them!
